Glasses

Isn't she cute? It took a much longer time to get them than we were originally told. I guess her prescription is so strong and the frame so small that they had to send it out to a specialist. Oh. But anyway, there she is.

She looks great! Did you get the same glasses to match? Can you tell by all of our questions that you were supposed to tell us more, More, MORE??? :)

Okay, I'll tell you all about it...after I get about 8 hours of sleepity-sleep.

You know, I was thinking about how you said her eyes are 4.75. And I thought, that sounds like what I am. So, I checked out my contacts and they are only 4.25! Ella's eyes are worse than mine? How did that girl get around? Cause I can't see a thing without my glasses! She must have been really surprised when she first put them on!

Okay, ummm...

Let's see first, yes, her vision is really bad, but she's farsighted, not nearsighted. So she can see far just fine...lucky girl. The eye doctor said that her young eyes were focusing hard on what she was reading, which is why she could see without it being blurry. She would complain about headaches, which is because her eye muscles were getting tired of focusing so hard. She has been wearing them constantly and before that using my grandma's. Both sets of these glasses have a +2.25 prescription (+2.75 in the one eye, +2.25 in the other). The doctor did this to let her eyes get used to this perscription, next year she will get the full prescription of +4.25 and +4.75. She said that now that she's been wearing the glasses, her vision is blurry whenever she takes them off. That's good; she'll get fewer headaches now that her eyes have to work less to focus on what she's seeing close up.

She was nervous about getting the glasses. I got the same glasses as her. My frame is 47 and hers are 45...whatever that means. Milimeters maybe? Anyway, mine are bigger. When Del gets home from work today I'll get him to get a picture of us together. I actually think my glasses are a little too small for me (they hurt by my hears) but I'm really glad that I got the same as Ella because she seemed more at ease with the whole situation once we settled on the same glasses. And I don't have to wear my glasses all the time, just when I'm driving or watching movies or needing to see something far away really well. I think my prescription is something like...-1.25. I know I'm so full of information.

Anyway, I tried some glasses on Rachel and that girls is stinkin' cute in glasses!! We'll see on Tuesday if she needs them or not, but I'm more convinced than ever that something is wrong with her eye.

Uh...let me know if there's anything I missed.

Her prescription is strong! I have -3.50 and I cannot see to walk through the house without glasses or contacts! I know she is farsighted, not nearsighted, but still! I bet once her eyes have adjusted enough to get her full prescription, she'll feel so much better and wonder how she did it without the glasses to begin with.

Okay so here is some explaination for Jo as far as I am aware.

The difference in the strength between the right eye and the left eye.... that is basically the set up for lazy eye. In Ella's case, the difference was not big enough, or it wasn't early enough in life to cause an actual lazy eye, but because the perscription is different, and ultimately one is better than the other, her brain could have decided to turn off one eye (which causes the lazy eye.)

the 47 vs 45 is the size of the frames. I am not sure if it is millimeters or what not, but I am pretty sure that it is the way it measures across the front of the glasses.... Basically the diameter of the head.

why do I keep thinking your appointment is on a monday? Like I mentioned earlier, Savannah has been given glasses too, and at first I couldn't imagine her wearing glasses, but she does look pretty cute in them if you ask me too.
