I am so proud of all the people who went to Washington this weekend to protest the spending, Obamacare and whatever else there was to protest. I wish I could have been there. Had we still been living in Maryland we'd have gone.
Barbara lives close enough to take the Metro in and she's got a really fantastic photo-journal that you might enjoy when you have a minute. Click on the picture in the link to see the photos.
I hope the message was sent. I notice it's not really on the news anymore. :(

More on Obamacare
I'm really getting into this.
PajamasTV is awesome. I could watch it all day. Today I bring you: Steven Crowder Investigates CanadaCare...Will Obamacare be any better? Don't be freaked out by the man with the knife; it's not what you might think.
Sorry that it's only half on the screen. You can click on the link for the full video. I really don't have the patience to learn HTML code to fix this.

Chuck Norris Can Eat Just One Lay's Potato Chip
Chuck Norris. I like Chuck Norris jokes. They're funny. Here's a good one.
-There is no 'ctrl' button on Chuck Norris' computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.
Chuck Norris also writes OpEd pieces. Did you know that? I didn't. He wrote an interesting one today about Obamacare and...home invasion.
Dirty Secret No. 1 in Obamacare
Go Chuck, go.

Health Rations
I hope I'm not being redundant, but this is a really (un)funny video. It makes me laugh and yet shake in my boots at the same time.

All Shrugged Out
About three weeks ago I finished listening to Atlas Shrugged. (A big, big thank you to Marie for providing the option to listen rather than read! I never would have finished if reading were my only option.) I listened primarily when I was up nursing Andrew during the night, so I may have dozed off a time or two, but I think I heard most of it! :)
Have you finished it yet? Although I cannot say that I liked this book, I am glad that I "read" it if only to provide a humorous comparison each time Obama comes out with a new program and a new office to run said program. And truly, there needs to be something to laugh about as I watch my freedoms be ripped from my hands one at a time! I think that I would have enjoyed the book more if Rand had left out about a third of the book. I think it could have been easily condensed by at least a third without losing any of the plot and details important to the story line. Plus I felt like she wrote this book with a thesaurus in hand. Have you felt that way? I wish I could think of a specific example, but since I listened mostly at 4:00 AM, one eludes me just now, but it seemed like she would pick a big descriptive word from the book, use it three or four times in a paragraph, and then realize, "Oh, I've used that a few times now, I should find another "smart" word now!" Perhaps it was just my general frustration with the overly long descriptions of things having nothing to do with the actual plot that made me think this.
Even with those complaints, I do think I am glad I "read" this book. It made me think a bit more about what is going on around me politically, which is something I don't generally do on my own. Sadly, unless I try really hard, I do not usually pay attention to politics until they intrude upon my life in a way I cannot ignore. I think it is probably time for me to change that.

Joanna Shrugged?
A couple of months ago Granny put out a challenge to read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. I seriously considered accepting the challenge because Granny has been around the block a few times and when she says "jump", I think the rest of us young 'uns should say "how high?" However I kept thinking about how I didn't even have time to read recipes, let alone books. I mean, I'm on chapter 5 or something like that in Pride and Prejudice. It's pathetic. I'm just too busy.

Anyway, I've been reading some of Michelle Malkin on a daily basis and they keep talking about "Going Galt". As I'm reading I keep wondering "Who is John Galt?" Turns out John Galt is from Atlas Shrugged. I have finally decided that I must read this book. The more of our money Obama spends the more I'm convinced we're headed down the slippery slope of Socialism and I think it's fascinating that Atlas Shrugged was written over 5 decades ago, before Obama was even born.
I checked Amazon and their copies of Atlas Shrugged are between $15 and $25. I thought I'd check out the library. You know what's funny? EVERY SINGLE COPY of Atlas Shrugged that the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative has is either checked out or on hold. I am now more convinced than ever that people are worried. People are downright freaked out. It's just hard to believe the main-stream media when they say that 60% of the country has a high approval rating of the Obama administration.
Okay, I will now try to get off of my soap-box. I promise to try to keep politics off of this blog as I know that's not really what it's for. I just had to mention that though.
On to more light-hearted matters: look what I got in the mail on Monday. I'm sorry I haven't posted or at least called you before to let you know. But look, they are in regular use. In the crib,
for soothing,
next to the diaper changing station,
and even in the van.
They are just beautiful! I always enjoy having a blanket and burp cloths from you because they are so pretty and they remind me of what a fabulous friend you are! Thank you Johanna and Lyn for the blanket and burp cloths.
Oh and one more thing. I tried the cookies.
I was disappointed. Maybe it's because I put caramel chips and chocolate chips in them. They totally fell apart.
And then I over baked the others so they are crunchy. They were incredibly easy to whip up though.
Anna is starting to sleep through the night. I put her down for the night at 8:40 last night and she woke up once at 3:23am, then didn't wake again until 7:30. I lay in my bed this morning wondering if she was dead. Isn't that awful. I think a lot about your friend; Anna is amost two months old. I snuck in her room full of trepidation. She was just laying there, wide awake staring at the wall. I snuggled her up good and prayed over her while I nursed her. Why am I so afraid to give her back to Jesus?
Last Wednesday (not yesterday) we went to see the manatees. It was pretty cool.

Lest We Not Stay Informed
I don't have cable television. Therefore I don't watch TV at all. I watch movies and that's it. No news though so to stay informed I check on Granny, Terry and Michelle Malkin every day...or at least nearly every day. Granny has three very important posts up today, but this one takes the cake. Please read it. As an aside, the brief quoted was filed 20 years ago.

Two Thoughts
Before I must finish my coffee, get dressed and get to packing.
1) Granny's post today on why she voted the way she did is an important read. Her reasons for voting they way she did are nearly exactly why I will be voting they way I will here in the near future.
2) We've been on a frenzied pace since we closed on the house. Del has been at the house every day fixing something up and still going to work. He gets up in the morning and heads over to the house until about 3, comes home, showers and goes to work until midnight and then sometimes goes back to the house. Last night he was there until about 2 A.M. I got up with him for my nightly snack and he told me that in one of the drawers he cleaned out he found the paperwork the bank filed for eviction of the last "owners." He said it was very sad and gut-wrenching to read, considering that this was their home and now...
The bank that owned the loan was Countrywide. Interesting indeed. Apparently this lady (no husband and several kids) had an ARM and was paying $2900 a month for her mortgage. When her ARM adjusted her payment went up from $2900 to $3700. Del said he found Section 8 paperwork and documents trying to get child support from...someone. To top it all off, she had $31,000 in unpaid taxes for two previous years. He said that from what he could tell, they were in the house as late as May of this year.
Very sad. It's interesting to be in the middle of this. I sort of feel bad for having their house. On the other hand Del and I avoided an ARM like the plague because we knew it was a horrible idea; it wasn't that hard to be just a little bit savvy about that (thank you God). She was alone though, with her kids. Scared, angry and probably a bit desperate.
I have so many thoughts about these people running about in my head. Like, why didn't they take care of the house better? The stove has obviously not been cleaned in a very long time and it's a flat top stove so it's not hard to clean. There are holes in the walls, sticky, icky stuff on the beautiful bamboo flooring and carpeting indescribably filthy. I don't get it.
Anyway, it's interesting to see the results of all the questionable lending in real life vs. hearing about it in the news.
Now, I have to go to work. My grandma is coming over to take care of me today. We have almost no food in the house so we don't have to move it and she's bringing lunch and dinner and will help pack up the kitchen. She's a real go-getter at 82. Maybe her two weeks in Maui shed some years. :)

Larry, Curly or Moe...That's a Tough One
What a circus this election is. All the candidates are making idiots of themselves, saying dumb things and pandering to every demographic they can, no matter how much it contradicts what they just said yesterday. It's insane. Thinking It Out and Writing It Down has found the single best description of our choices for president that I've seen yet. Check it out.
